New York, NY—Las Comadres & Friends National Latino Book Club
(LBCB) is celebrating its 10th Anniversary of connecting readers through Latino literature. To complement the celebration, the Book Club
is pleased to announce the release of its Third Annual Summer Reading List.
“Reading is a way to see the world and
explore new lands and cultures in our mind,” says Julia Abrantes, LBCB’s National
Project Manager. “It binds us and opens
our minds to unending possibilities. Our
books this summer remind us of those who have paved the way. These books empower
us, teach us and invite us to heal.”
LCBC’s Summer Reading List offers a “baker’s dozen” with something for
everyone – from the glitter of Hollywood to the wall at el Rio Grande to
Brooklyn to Puerto Rico. The list covers all genres including fiction, horror, memoirs,
poetry and business. Plus, the list includes the classic novel, Like Water for
Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, which celebrates 25 years of publication.

Book Club was started in 2007 in partnership with the Association of
American Publishers to promote reading of Latino authors. All books are written
in English by Latino authors. Membership is free and open to all readers. The
Book Club is currently in 15 cities, with more cities to follow. For more
information, visit www.latinolit.com.
Each
month, LCBC features a Book of the Month selection and one or two “Additional
Conversations with” selections. At the end of the month, there is a teleconference
with the authors. During the teleconference, the social media team has a
Twitter Chat with comments and tidbits about the book, the author and insights
gleaned from the conversation. Registration is open to all readers and is free.
Early registrants to the teleconference may receive a copy of one of the
books being highlighted that month. To register, visit www.latinolit.com.
